Souper Bowl
CCCS's Annual 'Souper Bowl' a Huge Success!
For the week leading up to the Eagles v. Chiefs game, CCCS had its own competition. This year’s annual "Souper Bowl" canned food drive at Cape Charles Christian School was another incredible display of generosity and community spirit! Students, teachers, and families came together to support our local food bank at Trinity United Methodist Church, making a tangible impact on those in need.
The school-wide event encouraged friendly competition among the classes, each striving to bring in the most canned goods. After a fierce yet fun contest, our Kindergarten and 1st-grade class emerged victorious, contributing an impressive 130 items! Their hard work and enthusiasm earned them a well-deserved class party. However, the real win was in our collective effort—our school gathered over 350 canned goods, all of which were carried down the street to Trinity UMC’s food pantry.
This event is a meaningful tradition at Cape Charles Christian School, emphasizing the values of kindness, service, and community involvement. We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication to helping others and grateful to our families for their support.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in making this year’s "Souper Bowl" such a success! We look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition and making an even greater impact next year.
Christmas Program

Cape Charles Christian School Students Bring Christmas Joy with Special Service
On December 19, 2024, Cape Charles Christian School students delivered a heartwarming Christmas Service for their families and friends, showcasing their creativity, faith, and love for the season. The event, entirely student-written and delivered, was a beautiful testament to the talents and dedication of the school’s young leaders.
A Celebration of Faith and Creativity
The Christmas Service, held in the Trinity United Methodist Church sanctuary, was a collaborative effort by students from all grades. They worked together to craft every element of the program, from the opening prayer to the final benediction. Through heartfelt messages, Scripture readings, and musical performances, the students shared the story of Christ’s birth and its enduring significance.
“It was incredible to see our students take ownership of this event,” said a faculty member who guided the planning process. “Their creativity and faith shone through in every part of the service.”
Messages of Hope and Love
The centerpiece of the service was a message written and delivered by the middle school students. Drawing from their own reflections, they spoke about the importance of nurturing our mind, body, spirit, and community during the holiday season. Their words resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom expressed how meaningful the message was.
One student shared, “We wanted to remind everyone that Christmas is about more than gifts—it’s about the love we share and the joy we can bring to others.”
Music and Fellowship
In addition to the spoken message, the service featured a variety of musical performances, including traditional carols and a special rendition of “Away in a Manger.” The audience joined in for “Joy to the World”, creating a sense of unity and celebration.
After the service, families and friends hung ornaments that the students made on a Christmas Tree that we gifted to the congregation of Trinity UMC as a thank you for the use of their beautiful church.
A Program to Cherish
The 2024 Christmas Service was more than just a school event; it was a gift from the students to their community. By writing and delivering the service themselves, the students demonstrated the values of leadership, faith, and service that Cape Charles Christian School strives to instill.
As the evening came to a close, one parent shared, “This service was a reminder of what Christmas is all about. The students did an amazing job, and we’re so grateful for this beautiful program.”

Middle School Students Shine Brightly At Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen
As Thanksgiving approaches, the spirit of gratitude and giving comes alive in many hearts. At Cape Charles Christian School, our small school with a big heart, this season provides a special opportunity for middle school students to live out their faith through acts of service. This year, their visit to the local soup kitchen was more than just a service project—it was a chance to grow in compassion, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve others.
Before stepping into the soup kitchen, students in all grades spent time learning about the importance of helping those in need. Our Bible teacher, Ms. Jenn, led discussions about Jesus’ teachings on serving others, focusing on verses like Matthew 25:35-40: “For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat...” This reflection helped frame the experience as a way to live out their faith and share God's love through action. Younger grades spent time during chapel creating placemats and other decorations for the meal. These items were brought along to share with guests at the kitchen, adding a personal touch to our giving.
On the day of their visit, the students donned gloves, rolled up their sleeves, and got to work. Tasks ranged from slicing pies to preparing plates, serving meals, and loading vehicles with to-go plates. For many of our middle schoolers, this was their first time volunteering in this way. “I didn’t realize how much effort goes into making these meals,” shared one sixth-grader. “It made me appreciate what I have even more and feel thankful that I could help someone else.”
As the students returned to school, they shared reflections on what the experience had taught them. Many spoke of newfound gratitude for their own blessings and a desire to continue helping others in their community. “It’s not just about food,” one student observed. “It’s about showing people they are loved and cared for. That’s what Jesus would do.”
The visit to the soup kitchen was a powerful reminder of the impact young people can have when they come together to serve. It also demonstrated the school’s commitment to fostering not only academic growth, but also the spiritual development of its students.
This Thanksgiving, Cape Charles Christian School celebrates the ways its students embody the values of faith, service, and gratitude. Their actions inspire all of us to look for ways to serve our neighbors and spread the love of Christ in our own lives.
